One perk that I was not expecting with this product: the way there are two valves of air per “rack” make it much easier to load and unload my 12ft kayak by myself. I use the groove between the two valves to guide the end of the kayak onto the car, and then swivel it around to the right direction. Would not be so easy with foam blocks or noodles. Some pads underneath should work to limit that. I keep the rack in my trunk for those just in case moments and don’t use it just for kayaks/canoes. It’s quite small when deflated.

This rack worked perfectly and carried my portable boat plus some additional Items while on vacation for some 600 miles with no problem. I just added additional ties to the front and rear to prevent lifting and flexing due to overhang. Did find minor water leaking after rainstorm as door seal won’t seat perfectly as flat tie strap has to be trapped when the door closes preventing a perfect seal and some wicking took place but was not a big deal and was expected with this design. I keep the rack in my trunk for those just in case moments and don’t use it just for kayaks/canoes. It’s quite small when deflated. This is more an issue with the design of the car and I don’t think there’s any way to get around it.
